Interior Trends for Autumn - Urban Union Ltd

Update your home this autumn

Summer is over and the seasons are changing. Autumn and winter this year will see the trend for dark colours, cosy interior schemes and pretty pinks and greens. Here are just a few of the hottest trends set for this coming season.

Black furniture and kitchens

Dark colours are the order of the day – and that includes the colour of your furniture and your kitchen! Black accessories were big in 2018 and now it’s crept into other areas of the home. Black chairs are set to be the statement piece everyone wants to get hold of  but make sure you combine it with some softer, prettier colours rather than having a dated monochrome colour scheme.

When it comes to your kitchen , bold cabinetry colours are making waves as people are being much braver and bolder than in previous years. Last year dark blue kitchens were a big trend and this has now gone even darker. Black adds drama and sophistication especially when combined with metallic accessories. Make sure you balance it out with pale walls and flooring or even pair it with a pale marble or wood worktop to lighten up your scheme.

Neutrals

If you’re not a big fan of big bold colours, this is the scheme for you. Elegant, sophisticated pale neutral tones will never go out of style and can enhance your sense of space and light especially in a smaller home. Use a mixture of oatmeal tones and pair it with warm pinks and rust tones so that it doesn’t look too bland.

Soft green and blush pink

If you like subtle hues then you will love the warm, soft tones of green and blush pink which work extremely well together. Incorporate these shades into your wallpaper, soft furnishings, flooring and accessories.

Metallics

Another trend we see year after year is metallic accessories including copper, rose gold and brass tones. This trend can be brought into any area of your home – soft furnishings, lamps, accessories, table ware and even wallpaper. It adds warmth and a little drama to any home.

Purple

This is a luxe tone that will give your home some warmth and depth. Go bold with a sofa or armchair in a velvet plum or purple tone or slowly incorporate it into your home through soft furnishings.

Go retro

By updating your bedding, throws or cushions you can introduce a theme without making too much of a commitment. Retro looks set to be popular this autumn with geometric shapes and designs giving your home a bold, modern feel.
