Living in Perth
Perthshire is a diverse and beautiful place to call home. It is a great place for children to grow up, for parents to raise their children and those starting out in life to lay down some roots. Known as the Fair City it was once the capital of Scotland so is bursting with local pride and historical attractions. Perth is located in the middle of Scotland and both Glasgow and Edinburgh are within easy reach.
With beautiful scenery, historic attractions and a wide range of outdoor activities and wildlife it’s easy to see why the area is so popular.
Here’s what we believe makes Perth such a great place to live.
Housing
At Urban Union we have identified a requirement to regenerate an area of Perth in order to satisfy the demand for high quality affordable housing close to Perth town centre. We have developed a collection of one, two, three and four bedroom homes and apartments at Muirton Living to appeal to a wide range of buyers at all stages of life. We have worked with Perth and Kinross Council to create this vibrant new community.
Schooling
We understand that one of the main draws for families when making buying decisions is the proximity to good quality schooling, which here in Scotland we are lucky enough to benefit from. Muirton Living sits within the catchment area of five local schools, both at primary and secondary level making it the ideal location for your family to grow.
The great outdoors
There are so many activities available for those who love being outside, including horse riding, camping, canyoning, walking, quad biking, fishing, hiking and canyoning. It’s also very popular in the summer with tourists to the area. For those who love wildlife, there’s nowhere better in Scotland! There are many species of deer and otter and birds including the Golden Eagle, Black Grouse, Raven, Peregrine and Osprey. Many come here just for bird watching and you may even spot the red squirrel in many areas of woodland. You can also experience a Highland Safari where you could see the Highland Tiger! These award-winning safaris are a must.
Annual events
One of the most popular annual events is in Faskally Woods close to Pitlochry, where you can attend the annual sound and light experience; The Enchanted Forest. This is an award-winning event taking place every October, where the woods are turned into an incredible spectacle. At Christmas you can enjoy the Christmas lights switch on, Pantomime and Christmas Markets to get you into the Christmas spirit! You can also attend the Pitlochry Festival Theatre which has shows year-round.
Hidden gems
There are many hidden gems that you’ll get to know well if you live here! Visit the Blair Athol Whisky Distillery, Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, the award-winning Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier, Pitlochry Station Bookstop, Fortingall Yew Tree (the oldest tree in Europe at around 9,000 years old), Balhousie Castle, River Tay Public Art Trail, Fergusson Gallery and Brankley Garden!
